RoarOS vs Modash

Modash is a creator discovery and analytics product: search creators, check audiences, and build lists before a program. Roar, built by Shortlist, tracks the posts those creators actually publish, tags hooks and CTAs, and alerts when one moves. RoarOS is the name many teams still search. The product is Roar.

Modash is a discovery and analytics product. Teams use it to search creators, read audience data, and build a list before anyone is briefed. Roar is the workspace Shortlist built for the posts that come back. Teams still search the old name, RoarOS. The product is Roar, at shortlistos.com/roar. roaros.com redirects there.

Roar is Shortlist's AI marketing toolkit: a workspace that tracks creator posts across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, sources creators into shortlists, tags hooks and CTAs, automates campaign reporting, and connects to AI agents like Claude, Cursor, and Codex over MCP.

What Modash is for

The question Modash is built to answer is "who should we talk to?" Filters, audience makeup, and a large public index are the product. Campaign features exist so a team can see whether someone posted. They are not a full operating system for a weekly creator bench, and creative tagging is limited.

Use Modash, or a tool in that class, when the work in front of you is research: a market map, a shortlist of lookalikes, a check on whether an audience is real. That research ends when the brief starts.

What Roar is for

Roar starts from the post. Paste a URL or a handle. The post lands on a creator and a campaign, across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, with views, likes, comments, shares, and engagement. Tags say what the creative actually was. Alerts fire when a post crosses the view counts you set. The agent answers from that workspace, in the app or from Claude, Cursor, or Codex over MCP.

Roar also sources creators: an AI search drops people into a shortlist that moves from candidate to contacted to contracted, with rates and notes. That is a working list for a program, not a public index of every creator on the internet, and not a marketplace creators opt into.

Roar does not track installs or sales, does not pay creators, and does not schedule posts.

If you are looking for a Modash alternative in 2026

Split the search before you switch tools:

  • You need a database to hunt in. A discovery product is the right shape. Roar is not trying to be the index of the open creator web.
  • You already know who is posting, and the sheet is where the report goes to die. Roar is the alternative to that sheet, and to refreshing a discovery tool to see if a deliverable went up.
  • You need both. Search in a discovery tool. Track the live program in Roar. Shortlist's programs do the second half in Roar, including Linkme, where eight creators held about 138 to 140 posts a week and the team was alerted the day a post moved.

Roar on its own is free for 7 days, then Individual is $249 a month (250 tracked posts, 200 AI credits a day) and Pro is $749 a month (1,000 tracked posts, 400 AI credits a day). Enterprise is priced on a call. Every Shortlist offer includes the workspace. Prices are in US dollars on Roar pricing.

What this page will not claim

Shortlist has not published a ranked "best Modash alternative" list, and it does not quote Modash's creator count or price. Those figures change and they belong on Modash's site. Roar's published proof is the case studies: Linkme, Wishlist, and AZVA.

Frequently asked

Is Roar a Modash alternative?
For discovery research, no. Modash is built to search and vet creators. Roar can source creators into a shortlist with AI search, and its core is tracking the posts once a program is live.
Can Roar check fake followers the way a discovery tool does?
Roar does not sell an audience-authenticity database. It tracks the posts you add and the performance of those posts. Audience vetting, when Shortlist does it, is part of the program, not a public creator index.
How much does Roar cost?
Free for 7 days, then Individual is $249 a month and Pro is $749 a month. Enterprise is priced on a call. Modash publishes its own plans. This page does not quote them.
